Meeting Mr MOOC

CLL @ HYMS team participating in a google hangout with ‘Mr MOOC’ –  Dave Cormier, project lead for student relations at University of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Following our  return from module two of the Strategic Leadership in Practice Programme at Blackburn the CLL @ HYMS project team have now had a few days to reflect on our experiences. It was an intense and lively forum comprising focussed workshops on how best to move forward the HYMS CLL project. The programme employed the system of active learning with sessions designed to support the process of learning groups in which participants are able to support each other through advice, guidance and access to information from the leadership foundation. Using this Critical Friend approach we and the other participants were able to look at each other’s projects with fresh insight on common issues and develop practical strategies for moving forward.

The photo shows a live google hangout session with Dave Cormier, the learning technologist who coined the term MOOC (massive open online  course). Dave shared some useful strategies for increasing student engagement which he had used at different international Universities.
